Our team

Matthew is responsible for Perpetual’s Asia Pacific business, focused on the Perpetual Corporate Trust and Perpetual Private Wealth businesses, as well as cross border transactions into Australia. Matthew is one of our qualified Trustee Resident Managers in Singapore and also sits on the Perpetual (Asia) Limited board.

Matthew worked in Senior Sales and Relationship Management roles in Perpetual Corporate Trust from 2007 to 2017, including three years in Singapore as Senior Vice President. In 2017 Matthew joined TMF Group as Regional Director Asia Pacific – Business Development, based in Singapore, where he led a team of 70+ sales and client management professionals across 10 countries including Singapore, Hong Kong, China, India, Japan, Malaysia, Australia, Indonesia and Thailand, plus sales responsibilities for the Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam and Philippines markets.

Matthew is an Admitted Solicitor in NSW and holds a Bachelor of Law, as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of International Business.

Sin Li Choo, based in Singapore, leads our experienced team of local trust specialists.  She is one of our qualified Trustee Resident Managers and acts as the Executive Director in Singapore. She has oversight over the trust business in Singapore, including client services, operations, compliance, financial reporting and company secretarial matters.

Li Choo’s team is experienced in managing large private trusts, managing and listing of S-REITs, with a strong focus on cross border asset acquisitions in major Pan-Asian countries including Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and China, amongst others. Her team is also involved in asset securitisation transactions including aircraft financing, asset financing and syndicated loan facilities. 

She is a respected trust practitioner, having written and spoken on corporate trust related matters including REITs, Bonds and Funds. Li Choo has more than 20 years of experience in corporate trust, private trust, private wealth management, audit and structured finance transactions.  She is a Chartered Accountant, Certified Financial Planner and Trust and Estate Practitioner. She holds a Bachelor degree in Accountancy and an MBA from Murdoch University.

Joey is responsible for leading a team of professionals who are responsible for client onboarding, on-going client service and relationships as well as all transaction activities. He is also responsible for ensuring compliance with Perpetual’s corporate trustee obligations undertaken for new and existing client mandates. He and his team manage a portfolio of clients comprising S-REITs, private trusts and funds.

Prior to joining Perpetual, Joey was the chief executive officer of the REIT Manager of a S-REIT, where he was responsible for the development and implementation of strategic, financial, investment, risk-management, compliance, operational and investor relations plans and activities. Prior to this, he was involved in corporate finance advisory, financial and management accounting, and audit. He has over 20 years of financial services experience.

Joey is a qualified Chartered Accountant of Singapore and has a Bachelor degree in accountancy and MBA from the Imperial College Business School, United Kingdom.

Benjamin is our Senior Vice President, Client Service & Finance, Singapore. He is a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants and is responsible for all financial and operational matters pertaining to the Singapore office, including client service, financial compliance, financial analysis, providing support on company secretarial matters and liaison with regulators on financial matters.

Prior to joining Perpetual, Ben was Head of Finance at one of Singapore’s largest brokerage firms, and also had 7 years audit experience at another large local firm.

David is responsible for the legal, compliance and risk management functions in Singapore and Asia, executing our Compliance and Operational Risk policies, standards, and programs. His responsibilities also include maintaining relationships with key regulators and supervisory institutions, our senior leadership team, key governance committees and the board of directors to sustain a culture of managing risk well and a best-in-class control environment to support the company’s responsible growth strategy.

His experience in financial services includes regional and head office roles covering legal and compliance in investment banking, asset management, private banking and wealth management. Prior to joining Perpetual in 2023, David was with Daiwa Capital Markets, where he was the Head of Legal & Compliance in Singapore for the investment banking, securities brokerage and wealth management business. He brings a depth of legal structuring and cross-border experience gained from tenures in Swiss Re, Bank of Singapore, Citibank N.A., Bank J. Safra Sarasin and Credit Suisse AG.

David received a LLM (Banking & Financial Regulation) from University College London, and his LLB (Hons) from National University of Singapore. He holds the rank of Captain (NS) in the Singapore Armed Forces.
